Changes and Updates on the 2018 Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 gets bolder front and rear styling for 2018. All 2018 F-150 models get new headlamps, grilles, and bumpers. As a result, it is now easier to tell the models apart, due to the design variations of each model. On the 2018 Ford F-150 Lariat model with the Sport package, the signature horizontal grille bars are painted in the body color.

At the rear of the 2018 Ford F-150, there are redesigned taillights that flank the new sculpted tailgate, which has an “F-150” stamped into it. The King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited models also get a special applique on the tailgate. The Ford F-150 offers six new rugged wheel designs for 2018, which range from 17” to 22” in size.

The F-150 King Ranch has new Kingsville appointed seats, and Carbon fiber-look trim now comes on F-150 XLT Sport and Lariat Sport models. There are also two new seating colors available on the 2018 Ford F-150. Dark Marsala appears on the F-150 Platinum, and the F-150 Limited offers a Navy Pier interior color scheme.

Big News Under the Ford F-150’s Hood

For 2018, the previous model F-150’s 3.5L V6 is replaced by a new 3.3L high efficiency direct-injected V6 with the same 282 horsepower and 253 lb.-ft. of torque as the 3.5L. A new second-generation 2.7L EcoBoost engine provides improved levels of output, efficiency, quality and durability. The powerful 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine remains in the lineup, unchanged.

The 5.0L V8 has been upgraded, with more power and torque. The main news item, engine-wise, for the 2018 Ford F-150 is the availability of the all-new 3.0L Power Stroke diesel engine – it’s the first-ever diesel offered in the F-150!

The 2018 Ford F-150 introduces a brand new 10-speed automatic transmission, the first of its kind in the full-size pickup segment. It is mated with the 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost engines, the 5.0L V8, and the new 3.0L Power Stroke diesel. And here’s yet one more Ford truck first: the 2018 Ford F-150 is the first full-size pickup to make automatic start/stop standard equipment on all models and engines!
